National team of Belgium and some other national teams rejected friendly matches with France prior to Euro-2020, Get French Football News reported with reference to L’Equipe.

The match of Belgians and Frenchmen was planned for March 2020. The decision over the cancellation of the game was taken by main trainer of the team Roberto Martinez. The main reason for that is possible defeat of Belgium, which could influence the mental condition of players before the tournament. Besides, in case of loss, Belgium would let France have the first line in FIFA ranking.

  • Matches Euro-2020 will be held from 12 June to 12 July in 12 cities of Europe, including St. Petersburg.
  • Belgium fell into the group B with Russia, Denmark and Finland.
